One Day. BMW New Series 5 Reveal At The Stokehouse

If you're contemplating a little roadtrip down the coast, nothing says luxury like taking the drive in a BMW. I mean honestly, the two go hand in hand... Which is why I was very excited to be invited to the much-whispered-about launch of the new series 5 sedan. At the soon to be reopened beach-front Stokehouse, none the less!

We arrived to be greeted by the showy BMW i8, complete with its sleek racer style and gullwing doors. But shhhh i8, this party isn't all about you. Although you are lovely...

Inside we strolled, glass of Bollinger in hand where Geoff Briscoe greeted us, before we were whisked off to sample oysters and sashimi from the brand new kitchen. Just wait until this place officially reopens. You're in for a treat. The food was first class, revolving predominately around seafood. Then of course there was the extensive cheeseboard. No guesses where I spent half my night...

We mixed and mingled. Spending a good chunk of the night chatting to Lady Melbourne. Sadly, in true Melbourne style, the weather was not on-form, so we watched the sun set from the windows, dipping into the blustery bay.

Then it was time for the big unveiling. Introducing the new series 5...

This little baby has all the latest technology. LED headlights, self-parking for tight spots, gesture control so you can simply wave your finger to turn the volume up and down, and, being a girl, my favourite feature - the new colour, sapphire black. It's seriously sexy. I mean, after 100 years in the business, you'd expect a new colour!

The new model will be available for purchase in March, until then I guess you'll just have to settle for the gullwing i8. What a compromise...

Thanks to BMW Melbourne for hosting a great event.
