Eat Me. Middletown, Prahran

Every time something British crosses my path I get a serious case of nostalgia. I really do miss England and Europe so much. Which is why I was delighted to find a little café in Prahran that was guaranteed to quell my sense of London-sickness. Welcome to Middletown.

Yep. You guessed it. It’s named after the famous princess Kate. And it has all the style and class you would expect of her wardrobe. Swing open the doors to find royal blue hues, marble counter tops and hints of metallic gold. Not going to lie - the interior was the number one thing that drew me to this place. Chic, sophisticated and totally fabulous.

The menu is also a feast for the eyes. I’d heard the whisper about the coffee waffles so I had to choose them. My sidekick went for classic avo toast with eggs.

We sat back and watched the chefs whisking and flipping through the open kitchen. We hadn’t caught up in a while so we barely had time to catch a breath in between our stories. Scattered around us sat young couples reading newspapers and solo travellers tapping away at their laptops.

As it turned out, the waffles packed in a bunch of incredible flavours. But be warned, don’t order this dish if you’re not a fan of truffles – the infused honey is quite punchy. If you do like them, order away!

Having nattered away for a couple of hours, with happy tummies and smiling faces we set off for a walk down Chapel St, where our legs got a work out… And so did our purses!
