Eat Me. Au79, Abbotsford

If you find yourself with a rumbling tummy around breakfast time, I have just the spot to share! Take yourself for a little adventure to Abbotsford, past the grungy factories and along the picket-fenced streets right to the door of Au79.

If you studied chemistry in high school like me, you might recognise that Au is the symbol for gold. (Even after all these years I can still recite the first 40 elements in the periodic table! #nerdlife).

Step inside and you’ll see it lives up to its name. Luxe gold touches blend with botanical elements to create a luscious environment. And let me tell you, it is HUGE! Honestly it’s probably the largest café I’ve ever seen, so don’t worry about having to queue too much. You can normally sit straight away.

We positioned ourselves by the window, lapping up the sun’s rays, and eagerly took in the menu before us. Of late, I’ve become somewhat of a breakfast ‘course’ eater. Something savoury for main and something sweet for dessert (to share of course!). I mean if it makes sense for dinner then why not the beginning of the day too?

We started off with the smoked salmon omlette, served with sourdough and goats cheese. A savoury triumph. Before rounding it out with a breakfast-y take on a peach crumble. Think warm, juicy peaches, spiced crumble and crème-fraiche. An extraordinary way to start the day!

For those of you who are coffee drinkers (i.e., everyone except me!), they make their own batch brew onsite and I hear it’s pretty darn good. Send me a snap if you stop by.
