Must Have. Beauty Basics

Since my early 20s now feel like a distant memory and  the big 3-0 is just a few years away, I've started to really take some care and consideration with my beauty regime.

Where once I would slather on whatever moisturiser that was to hand (and that was only when I even remembered!), now I've taken to investing a little more time and $$'s into some tried and tested products.

Here are the favourites in my beauty cabinet...

This Schwarzkopf toning blonde shampoo (currently on sale!) is great for those with ashy-tones like me. I use it every few washes to keep the brassy tones away, without drying out my locks.

With all natural ingredients, I've become a big fan of Grown Alchemist products recently. This gel cleanser is really effective, removing all make-up without drying out my skin.

A great choice inherited from my mum's beauty routine. This stuff from Estee Lauder really is a pot of magic. Pop it on before bed. Wake with dewy, fresh skin!

Clinique has always been another go-to of mine. This sculpting night cream is moisturising yet lightweight; perfect for dry skin like mine.

Like most blondes, I suffer from dry locks. I find this leave-in conditioner is a big help. It helps to smooth my ends without leaving any greasy residue.

Another favourite from Grown Alchemist, this detox serum works wonders, protecting my skin from free-radicals like pollution, or self-imposed toxins like alcohol. You're sure to see a brighter complexion.

This one from Clinique always gets a lot of use from me during the winter months when I really suffer with a dry complexion. Pop it on generously before bed and wake to plump, moisture-rich skin.

Also, a special mention to my FAVOURITE body moisturiser but I've currently run out. This stuff from L'Occitane is literally miracle cream. Nothing else I've ever used even comes close to comparing. Do yourself a favour and invest in a bottle.

Once you've prepared the base, then that's when the make-up comes in...

I'm sure most blondes will agree with me when I say it's hard to find the right eyebrow pencil shade... Stop looking, I found it at Clinique, and it comes with a handy two-ended model. Colour in with the crayon then highlight your browline with the illuminating stick.

This one really is a case of 'I got it from my mumma'. My mum has always been an Estee Lauder foundation-wearer, hence I am an Estee Lauder foundation-wearer. I love the Double Wear because it stays put all day long, but if you want a lighter coverage simply mix it with a moisturiser or illuminator.

Now I must tell you, I love a gift-with-purchase. Particularly when it comes to blushes. I like to change-up my blush shade with the seasons from spring-like pink to a peachy autumnal hue. That's why it's so great when a GWP includes a mini blush like this one from Clinique

Every girl should have a good eye make-up palette in their arsenal. My favourite is this smoky one from Urban Decay. It has all my favourites from blacks to greys, browns to peaches. And this Maybelline mascara really sets it off!

MAC does a fantastic bronzer. I often use a light dusting all over to set my foundation.

And last, but definitely not least, eyeliner. Having never been blessed with particularly steady hands, liquid has always been out for me. My alternative? I love this Estee Lauder crayon, it glides on drawing a slim line that can also be smudged if you wish.
