Eat Me. The Epicurean, Red Hill

Epicurean: a person devoted to sensual enjoyment, especially that derived from fine food and drink.

In essence, it’s a fantastic word. In restaurant form, it’s even better. Conveniently located just down the road from where we were staying at Lindenderry, The Epicurean lured me in with its menu that boasted woodfired pizza.

My ultimate weakness.

Wander inside and you’ll find a sprawling venue that was originally built as an apple store in 1921. With soaring ceilings, raw timber and red bricks, it has a real authentic feel about it. At full capacity it used to hold about 34,000 apples, so that gives you an idea of scale. I.e., big.

Now, The Epicurean is used primarily for lunches and dinners, as well as events and weddings. It also has a casual eatery in the front section. With two roaring fireplaces and a bustling kitchen, it’s easy to get swept up in its allure.

Turtleneck / Jeans / Shoes [the best Valentino dupes you've ever seen!] /  Belt / Watch / Jacket

We ordered some local wines and began with the tasting plate. Chock-full of cold meats, bread, cheese and dips, it was a delight for my grumbling stomach. The charry, cheesy margarita pizza that followed was even better. If only I could rustle up another one right now… Delivery to South Yarra please?

With full tummies and warmed fingers from the fire we happily strolled out into the brisk May air. Ready for the day of adventure that followed…
