A long green drive, just outside Banbury, leads down to Upton House & Gardens - an estate that is part of the National Trust. Take an early morning stroll and beat the crowds. What you'll find at the end of the drive is breath-taking.
Built in 1695, today this country home sits here grandly in her (for surely it must be a her!) old age. Originally a hunting lodge, the sandstone property holds many treasures.
My favourite? The gardens. A breath-taking expanse out the back where you can even pack a picnic and enjoy, if the British weather is being kind.
Venture right to the edge of the garden and you'll find a view out over the fields and pond. I mean really, it's picture perfect.
Aside from the gardens, perhaps what is most special about Upton House is its extensive art collection, with everything from Tiepolo to Guardi. Pay a visit to see it all for yourself and send me a snap. If you can, come soon. This place is a real treat during British summertime.
